 Notes & Reviews

Fairly disappointing in content, though the technical quality is good. Nothing is specifically wrong with any of the songs, other than everything is uninspired and lacking in any memorable or interesting 'hooks' that stand out. The style is mostly commercial pop and funk with crooning black vocals somewhat like Earth, Wind and Fire, and with many major 7th and minor 7th chords sounding somewhat like Steely Dan. The most exciting songs are probably the two rock songs 'Steven Baine's Electric Train' (lively) and 'Midnight Man' (slow, with nice background harmonized lead guitar lines). The real interest in this album might be the presence of Luther Rabb (bass), who fronted the great little-known group Ballin' jack in the 1970s, and was later in War. Unfortunately, Luther had no involvement in the songwriting or vocals on this album.
