Full title is: Musik und Poesie aus der Zeit des Dreissigjahrigen Krieges
2010 release. Just like the composers of the works featured on this CD (Dietrich Becker, Albert Schop, Johann Vierdanck, Thomas Selle and Johann Staden), poet Andreas Gryphius (1616-1664) was influenced by Protestantism and the miseries of the Thirty Years` War and his work boasts austere, expressive artistic characteristics. Listeners are moved by the directness of the expressiveness and topicality of the music and poetry on this recording. The members of Musica Fiorita come from various countries and joined forces while studying at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. This recording`s artistic impression is rounded off perfectly by Fischer- Dieskau`s interpretations of the Gryphius poems. |
