Cherry Red. 2005.The Freshies were a band that enjoyed a cult status back at the beginning of the 80s. Famous for 'I'm In Love With The Girl On A Certain Manchester Megastore Check-Out Desk'. The single was played everywhere and sold over 40000 copies but it's failure to go Top 40 proved too much for the band, who never scaled such heights again. Also included are the tracks 'I Can't Get Bouncing Babies By The Teardrop Explodes' and ' If You Really Love Me Buy Me A Shirt', both were indie chart hits.Chris Sievey, the artist behind The Freshies, is also Frank Sidebottom.
