 Notes & Reviews

The Glert was formed in 1996 in Las Vegas. Their unique and infectious sound of explosive rock vocals and heavy guitars underlined with slammin funk grooves comes from the diverse backrounds of their five members. The band rapidly caught the attention of local media, getting airplay even featured on a local NBC television special. The group also quickly built a strong local fan base performing at popular rock venues in Vegas. The Glert has opened for George Thorogood, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Linda Perry and performed at the AC/DC after concert party. They have also performed in clubs in L.A. like The Roxy and Billboard Live. They recently relocated to the NY area and are beginning to book shows. This CD, 'On Black Paper' was recorded 'Old School'. Analog all the way and live band all the way. ' We were fortunate enough to work with Sally Browder, one of LA's hottest and most progressive engineer/producers (Rocket from the Crypt,Young Dubliners, and Dwight Yoakam) The songs on this CD are emotionally charged and offer a wide range of moods. 'Tire Playground' is an uptempo funk/rock song depicting a first feeling of adolescent independence. 'Black on Black Paper' sets a darker tone of climbing inside the mind of an alluring female psychopath. 'Veil' is the story of a daughters struggle with her mother's addictions. 'Same Girl' and uptempo pop song of bad girl turns out good.
