 Notes & Reviews
Ignite and Imagery are a hip hop group from NC. A plain (or lame) first sentence, but it speaks volumes. NC is a melting pot of styles and influences. Musically not southern or east coast style, but a mesh of the two with our own state's style thrown in there. I&I are hip hop through and through, growing up on Rawkus Records, The Roots, Nas, Outkast, Cee Lo, Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, Gang Starr, Busta Rhymes and more, mixed with the influences of the local MCs we looked up to. This album is a spread of beats that range from soulful to sinister to reggae to funk. The lyrics are the result of the hard work of Ignite and Imagery, whose focus is to create tongue twisting wordplay without losing the listener. So the rap can be enjoyed by both lyricists and the average music listener that doesn't care so much about how many syllables you rhymed, but just cares if it sounds good. I&I aren't gangster rappers and rap about real things and real life with an entertaining perspective on them. Humor shines through at times as well as emotions. I&I connect with you and give you an album that will have your head nodding non stop. Enjoy.
