An incredible sextet date with 'Philly' Joe Jones, Kienny Drew, Donald Byrd, Pepper Adams, and Wilbur Ware. The plying is impeccable, the compositions tight. The ensemble playing is cohesive and, of course, they blow the house down!! Johnny Griffin is one of the most respected tenor men of the 50's/60' (and beyond) and he is in great form here. His range is full and his low, earthy rumbles are a treat. The re-mastering is outstanding with Wilbur Ware heard to great effect. An all around classic from a classic ensemble.
