 Notes & Reviews
The Rustlanders blend elements of country, blues, and rock into their own unique sound. This sound combined with familiar melodies and lyrical passages that embrace the American spirit are what makes The Rustlanders music so easily acessible to your ears and mind. The group originated in 2004 with a half dozen songs that were written by guitarist/vocalist Jason McIntyre and Guitarist Jason Tutwiler. In November of that same year Corry Drake would further define the sound by adding the bass lines to the original material. These originals along with a handful of cover tunes would comprise the trio's debute performance--an open mic nite at The Phyrst in State College, Pa. As time went by the group--still unnamed, added drummer Jack Wilkinson and continued on State College's open mic circuit. Also performing on the circuit was a trio called The King Cotton Rounders, whose frontman and Acoustic guitarist Chris Rattie instantly struck a chord with Drake, Tutwiler, and McIntyre. Chris (who also plays drums) & Corry had a history together as the rhythm section of local band Jack's Farm and his harmony singing and skills as a songwriter were undeniably the missing link that was needed to complete the sound. With the addition of local music great Dave Mudget on pedal steel guitar, The Rustlanders were born. That was 3 years ago.... Now, The Rustlanders are releasing their first full length studio album. Simply titled, 'The Rustlanders' the 11 songs are anything but simple, while still remaining true to their most basic influences. see ya 'round.
