 Notes & Reviews

Tricky Redkin is an indie-pop duo based in Berkeley, CA. Their songs range from childlike and whimsical to wistful and melancholy. Their influences include early Beatles, Syd Barrett, Mazzy Star, the Sundays, though they sometimes describe themselves as a meeting of Belle & Sebastian and Mr. Rogers. 'Once I Knew an Aardvark,' their debut album, sounds like a psychedelic journey through a child's mind. With a blend of acoustic and electric guitars, occasional strings, a range of percussion, and horns, the album evokes themes of love, innocence, and lonely circus creatures. Check out 'It's Possible,' and 'Hello mr. Squid.' They are currently recording an EP of brooding and introspective songs. Brad Brummett: guitars, drums/perc., wood flute, and vocals FP: vocals, guitars, viola, and harmonica SPECIAL GUEST David Reinstein: tuba, baritone, trombone, and flugel horn (Original Illustrations and Graphic Design by Daniel Vuyovich)
