Alan Parsons at its best. - Aviv Kotek, 03/13/2008, Israel
This was good on vinyl, but remastered on disc with some extra guitar it is simply sensational. Dr. Tarr & Professor Fether is a must have party track.
Classic 'Project' - one of their best.
An Alan Parsons' best effort. Great tunes, wonderful theme, right up there with =I Robot=.
This is the album that started the 'Alan Parsons Project'. It is intended to be a musical interpretation of the works of Edgar Allen Poe in the 'rock' idiom. I believe it was by far the best of anything the APP ever did and certainly a unique album concept.
Tales of mystery and imagination, indeed, a brilliant masterpiece, pure joy for the senses, it feels like you are almost living the stories.
This album is very good, and you'll be pleased if you purchase this one...
Before hearing this CD, I was sad to read in the sleeve notes that Alan Parsons had added to and remixed this classic album. Usually when this is done it detracts from the original, but in this case I feel it complements the original very well.
Fantastic!!
Mystery! We don't need much imagination to solve this mystery! Imagination! Produces a flight on our minds, sending us to a time of passion, to a land of magic. It's a fantastic CD. This project must continue!!
This CD is truly a sonic masterpiece, and is flawless in every respect. Alan Parsons is a genius at the mixing boards, and his talent is incredible. I would recommend this CD to anyone who wants to push their system to the limits.
Full title is: Tales of Mystery and Imagination: Edgar Allan Poe
Weaving synths, glockenspiel and guitar with vocoder, boys choir and even Orson Welles narration, producer Parsons brilliantly interpreted the chilling works of Edgar Allan Poe on this 1976 LP. The Project's first release, it went Top 40 and notched hits with (The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether and The Raven ; here's the 1976 album and 1987 remix plus demos, unreleased 'experiments' and more bonus material!
