This was Emmylou starting out. As was the case later on, here it's that distinctive clear voice. Emmylou knows just the right amount of feeling to put in each track, without going overboard. Her version of the Beatles' 'For No One' brought a tear to this listener's eye. By comparison, the Beatles' own version is austere and blank. The album is well-paced; she can move you with a ballad or she can get you up on your feet. The balance is just right.
