Enya : Watermark

This early album is Enya feeling her way to the right formula. By the end of the listening, you know she's got it right. She balances the up-tempo with the more moody scenes. In 'The Long Ships', you can just about shiver in fear as the menacing marauder s come up the river. In 'Orinoco Flow', you're there on the tropical scene, looking on as boats and people ply their trades on the great water or you're at the foot of a great waterfall. Enya is all about mood setting and this album succeeds well in doi ng this job. Or you can just lie back, close your eyes and let Enya massage your brain cells, as you drift off, maybe never getting to hear that last track as you fall into a relaxed nap. Soothing!!

I never would have thought that I would get into 'new age' music, but after seeing the movie 'L.A. Story', I just had to get the music for it. Enya is a powerful artist. 'Exile', on this album, is a beautiful song. Hard to believe that this album originally came out almost 10 years ago. Her music is timeless.

It's a very fine CD, but somehow some tracks sound a little 'commercial'. But that's not annoying if you don't listen too often....
