 Notes & Reviews

What!? You mean you don't own this already!?! Get thee home and fetch the money now, heathen!!
- Andre Meyer, 11/24/2003, South Africa

I don't know what our friend Manifred is talking about, 'No class and lots of noise'? Oh wait, now I know, he's talking about rock and roll. Half of the songs are unreleased. This is a band that truly stood out among bands of the day. This boxed set is the best rock and roll I've heard.
- Thomas A Marth, 05/19/1999, USA

Too basic in its production. No class but lots of noise. Not my style of music.
- Manfred Theierl, 10/29/1997, USA

An extraordinary box. Four CDs centered in each studio record, and an incredible missing tape of a Dylan-wannabee, Lou Reed. A pity it doesn't contain any Primitives material (like 'The Ostrich', for example).
- Paulo Franco, 07/29/1997, Brazil

For something so darn profane, it's awfully sacred.
- Jon Goldberg, 07/21/1997, USA

If you think you want to embark upon Velvet fandom, then go on and buy this set to save both money and headaches.
- Robert Oliver Jones, 04/10/1997, USA

Fantastic re-issue. Remastered works of the most influential rock band of the sixties.
- Rommel Dallagnol, 12/07/1996, Brazil

The Velvet Underground has grown over the years to be recognized as the most groundbreaking band of the '60s, and this 5-CD set is a shattering testament to their greatness and Lou Reed's genius. On it's 5 CDs are newly remastered versions of all four of their studio albums (with the Velvet Underground presented in it's alternate, 'closet' mix version), plus-hold on-25 unreleased tracks, including 11 demos with John Cale and one without, seven Loaded outtakes and six live performances, plus other rarities plucked from VU and Another View. An 88-page booklet with complete credits and rare photos and memorabilia round out the set. Essential listening.
