 Notes & Reviews

Steve Morse and the Dregs bring a little 'down south' to the whole fusion (jazz rock) debate of the 70s with surprisingly good results. Hard to believe this was their first 'official' recording effort.
- Gl Fisher, 05/05/2006, Australia

Not quite as good as =What If=, more fun, but not as advanced.
- Bryan Allen Adams, 10/18/2002, USA

First Dregs album (way back when!) I'd ever heard and still my favorite for traveling tunes.
- Charles J Podlesny, 11/19/1999, USA

The Dregs first commercial album sets their direction wonderfully. Though the mix and sound may be simple, the music, performances, and arrangements are harmonic, melodic and rhythmic treasures, and define a unique progressive band. There's a lot to listen to in this music!
- David Warhol, 01/12/1999, USA

Full title is: Free Fall

This 1977 Dixie Dregs debut was resounding proof that Capricorn puts out more than just Southern rock. Steve Morse and the boys take you on 11 wild fusion excursions, including Refried Funky Chicken; Wages of Weirdness; Hand Jig; Cruise Control, and more.
